A Chorus Line was nominated for twelve 1976 Tony Awards and won nine, including: Best Musical, Best Musical Book, Best Musical Score, Best Actress - Musical, Best Featured Actor - Musical, Best Featured Actress - Musical, Best Director - Musical, Best Lighting Design, and Best Choreography.
A Chorus Line won five 1976 Drama Desk Awards including: Best Book, Best Score, Best Director, Best Choreographer, and Best Actress (a tie between two cast members).
Other awards include: New York Drama Critics Award - Best Musical (1975), Pulitzer Prize for Drama (1975), a special 1976 Theatre World Award was given to every member of the creative staff and original cast, a special 1976 Obie Award was given to the creators and selected cast members, London's 1977 Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, and the 1978 Gold Record Award from Columbia Records. In 1984, A Chorus Line received a Special Tony Award when it became the "Longest Running Show in Broadway History."
